I changed from BT to EE and my ping in League of Legends went up from 20ms to 40ms without changing locations. I thought it was just a poor internet connection because the speed is the same, but it’s now affecting my gameplay. Recently, I’ve had games where my ping was stable at 20ms again, which is encouraging. I’m wondering if there’s anything I can do to consistently get that 20ms or if I’m always experiencing fluctuations. My system is Windows 10, and I don’t think my hardware specifications matter here.

Noticed I placed it in the incorrect section—I’m unsure how to remove it.

EE operates under BT ownership, which means much of the same equipment is used across locations. A common complaint from UK ISPs revolves around the large quantities of faulty devices they ship—modems, routers, APs, switches. Review EE’s support documentation to determine if the required configurations can be applied to your existing BT hardware, potentially resolving the issue. If not, consider purchasing suitable gear yourself or persist with their technical assistance.

(1) For budget-friendly options, DrayTek is a reasonable choice. Avoid buying complete units; instead, select only the necessary components—such as the modem/router—and use your existing BT hardware for the rest. This allows you to bypass the wireless setup if needed.

(2) Work closely with EE’s support team. Clearly explain the situation, remain polite, and follow their guidance. Emphasize that you’re using BT equipment and highlight your concern about contract cancellation due to "mis-sale." This protects your rights and brings the matter forward beyond basic troubleshooting steps like turning devices on and off.

It’s important to recognize the financial implications: long-term contracts, ongoing costs, and service quality can significantly affect your investment. If you face persistent problems, consider alternatives like IDNet for more reliable service.
