Connect a mesh network using a provider's wireless modem.
We are constructing a new home and the contractor is installing an Ethernet connection from the basement to the main floor. I’m wondering whether buying a mesh network with one router and one satellite will replace the existing Wi-Fi in the house. If I connect the mesh router on the main floor using the main floor’s internet access, will it take over the wireless network there, leaving the basement without Wi-Fi? Or will my internet provider’s modem still function with the new setup—three wireless access points now (basement provider box, mesh router on the main floor, and satellite on the second floor)? Thank you in advance. Feel free to share any additional details needed for a clear answer. I look forward to your response and am happy to provide Scott.
You won't get just one SSID, but several unless you turn off broadcasting on your router.
