The update on October 9th 2015 added a hl3.txt file to Dota 2. Could it be a coincidence? The document is in the game's core tools and contains a reference to VR Movement. Sometimes it gets commented as HL3 only. There’s a tooltip about an associated player counter, but no further details. The file is available on GitHub. I’m excited about HL3! For those interested, the Steam Summer Game loading screen reached 109% during that time. If you add points: 10.9 (formatted for America). It might just be a placebo or a clever announcement. Greetings from Austria!

They’ve been joking around about me, but Valve’s been tinkering with Half-Life 3 a lot—so much so they even said it openly. But here’s the twist: their game dev crew can jump in or start new projects whenever they want, which means HL3 hasn’t seen much progress since 2010. That’s a bit of a win, right? Plus, this VVV is just the tip of the iceberg.
HL3 will eventually be released, but it probably won’t meet the excitement people expect.
