Hi All, I’m facing a problem with an NFS mount on my Linux server (SLES) that points to a Windows 2019 machine. It works fine for me, but I can’t set permissions on the Windows side. Files are accessible, yet I can’t move or modify them without forcing ownership changes. The Linux side allows full access via authenticated users. Any suggestions? Thanks! Jamie

It's been a while since I worked with NFS, but I remember it depends on your Linux user ID to check permissions. The user ID of the connected person should align closely with the one that has access on the server.

Sure, you might have to mimic a Windows user ID to give the mount permissions it needs.

UID or Group, either works. It’s likely simpler to set up an NFS group on the server and add the desired users to that group.

Sure, let me check. When you worked with NFS, the outcome was different from what you expected. You were using Ubuntu and connecting via Windows, so I’ll see if those settings affect the rules.
