Not too long ago I acquired a pair of Dell Powerconnect switches (2848) from my previous employer—though they were eventually thrown away, thanks to my manager’s approval. I’m trying to configure link aggregation between them and found the manual online, which is still helpful. So far everything seems fine. However, experienced users are asking whether I should set up aggregation on both switches or if one switch will handle it alone. TIA! I shared this on the Level1 forums a day ago but didn’t get any response and it hasn’t gained much attention. Hope things improve here.

Set up LACP between both switches using these commands.
Configure the interface range to include the desired ports.
Activate channel group 1 and set the mode accordingly.
Ensure the port-channel number matches for consistency.
Save changes to the configuration file if needed.

Thanks for the help. I haven’t finished arranging the switches yet, but I do have access to the web interface on both ends. Still a useful reference when it’s not available.

I don’t rely on the GUI, it’s too complicated/broken, I prefer the command line here.
