Hey, I need to transfer my OS from a 2TB hard drive to an SSD. Do you have any tips on how to do this? I’m looking for tools that can pull the drivers and essential files from the old drive without having to start fresh or copy everything manually.

The capacity is defined as the maximum amount it can hold or process.

No such tools exist solely for relocating the operating system and drivers. You would need a clean installation instead.

There exists software for cloning operating systems, and typically a fresh installation is recommended after cloning. Clonezilla is a common option, often provided on SSDs by default.

I believed he meant only OS files and drivers from the OS drive, not others. My error. Clonezilla would have suggested that.

I’m not familiar with any tools that can copy just your operating system and drivers. This would be quite complicated and I haven’t seen anything like it before. You might try a full installation of your OS, which would give you a fresh system and should be manageable if you have your licenses ready. Another option is to shrink the drive’s data size before cloning it, but this means transferring your files from the HDD to an SSD.

Samsung SSD 120g should serve as the boot drive or operating system. Use the hard drive for running most applications and games. I didn’t expect to have to install all the drivers. The computer was an Alieware Auror model purchased in April 2010.
