Hello everyone, I'm seeking advice on setting up a new Wi-Fi system for my home. I have a three-story house with thick walls and a large garden that I'd like to cover with Wi-Fi as well. I'm unsure which equipment to choose. I've considered Ubiquti, but I'm not sure what devices to select since they offer a wide range but lack support for sales guidance. I need gear that supports dual-band operation, allowing both 5GHz and 2.4GHz simultaneously. Having Power over Ethernet (PoE) would also be beneficial. Could you help me decide on the best options and the number of APs required? The garden area is around 3,000m² and the house is about 400m² across three floors. Thanks! Lex

Do you have a plan in mind? I currently use 1gbps fiber at home and have upgraded to the Ubiquiti UniFi UAP-AC-LITE Dual-band AC1200. I own three units in my 130 square meter living space. For optimal coverage, I’d suggest placing three devices per floor, which should deliver strong signals. However, if budget is a concern, two or even one unit per floor would work just fine. ((It might sound a bit unusual to have three APs on each floor, but it should provide very high speeds above 5GHz.))) Regarding the exterior setup, I’m not sure what you mean by it, but Linus demonstrated a video where he installed a dish in his roof after a major upgrade. It seems to have worked well for long-range, high-quality WiFi outside. I’d also consider getting a PoE switch from them to power all the devices.

The budget is around 1.5k. We plan to upgrade to fiber soon, which should improve the Wi-Fi speed. The key point is ensuring the outdoor Wi-Fi functions well. Previously, I owned several outdoor APs, but they all performed poorly. Thanks!
