Hello, I just set up my new PC/server. At first I ran ESXi 8 but it kept restarting. To investigate, I switched to Windows for third-party tools to check performance and troubleshoot. (ESXi, of course, was just a coincidence—I should contact the hardware supplier.) My system specs are: AMD Ryzen 9 7900X, 64GB RAM, 5200MHz, Team Group, MSI B650M-A Pro M.2 with NVMe drives. After creating a USB stick, I booted it and the installer reported missing a driver. I downloaded the NVMe driver from Crucial’s site (they have the P3 Plus models) but it didn’t work. I visited MSI’s website and tried all their drivers, none helped. There was one AMD chipset driver package, but it wasn’t recognized. Even after extracting the files, nothing functioned. What could be missing? On the original USB stick, when I first booted, I saw a boot drive and a C: drive—can I access C:? It prompts me to format it.

Consider using a different USB port or port type. The issue occurred with the USB 3 port, but it functioned correctly on the USB 2.0 port.

It seems the motherboard only supports USB 3.1+ ports. You have a few USB 2.0 connections available, but your case doesn’t have them. I’m new to this build, so I should point out that the board likely lacks a USB 2.0 interface. I’d like to know if there’s an option to connect the USB 1.0/2.0 jack in a way that gives you a usable USB port. You mentioned looking at the PROB650M-AWIFI.pdf—does your model have similar functionality?

Uncertain about the setup—it was an Intel 4th gen machine with USB 3 and 2 ports, so I didn’t stress too much when it worked in the 2.0 port. Possibly in the light blue ports, which seem to be Gen1 versus Gen2? Other suggestions—Reset your MB settings to defaults. Check if the installer drive uses UEFI and whether BIOS is set to UEFI. Also, consider redoing the USB install via the official Windows media creator tool if using Rufus, or vice versa, as that might work better.

It's working now! The fix involved either resetting the BIOS or using Rufus to burn the ISO. Not sure which worked best, but it was installed successfully! Thanks for the advice!
