You should consider using QoS for better performance. It can help keep your video and gaming smooth while managing downloads and other tasks. To set it up, prioritize streaming services, games, and downloads first, then lower the priority for background activities.

QoS works best when several users or gadgets use lots of data. Even in those cases, Open WRT remains the only router system I’ve discovered offering solid bandwidth control and traffic shaping features.

Yes, it would be best to keep it turned off.

He’s using multiple services at the same time—radio, sports, streaming, etc.—and I’m trying to figure out why there’s lag or interruptions.

It was unstable previously, so I attempted to activate it again. Additionally, I installed a new Wi-Fi card and updated the router drivers.

Routers don't come with drivers, possibly you're talking about the firmware. Also, when many devices connect to the same Wi-Fi access point, the available bandwidth for each drops. Setting up a reliable Wi-Fi connection can be quite challenging. For instance, my WRT 1200AC needs a special firmware with community-created drivers (a custom Open WRT build) to prevent its built-in WiFi adapters from malfunctioning. To troubleshoot a Wi-Fi issue, you'll need several WiFi adapters or devices that support pinging to confirm the problem. Using a network analyzer is essential for accurate diagnosis.

I'm connected to 5G now, and it seems like just you, your uncle's laptop, and a few phones are involved.

Use the command to test connectivity from your device. Observe the consistency of response times. Ensure no other equipment is accessing the same network. Keep the system active while monitoring for significant variations.
