I often stream from my PC to my Steam Deck using remote play, but when I turn off my monitor, Windows resets to a default resolution of 1920x1080 at 60Hz. I want to switch to 1440p at 90Hz for better compatibility with my deck. Have you tried adjusting this setting through registry changes under "Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers\Configuration"? It seems the previous attempts didn’t work, and I’m using Windows 10 with an AMD GPU. Thanks!
I observed those as well; the link I found is essentially a software version of what you described. I reached the same point about dealing with an invisible display being problematic, and I’ll keep it as a backup option. It’s surprising this isn’t adjustable—most likely the default resolution is saved somewhere, but I’m not sure.
