Concerns about voltage levels in the 3900X system
Hey there! I bought a 3900X about a month ago after my 1700 gave up. There are worries about using higher voltage on Zen2 since it has a lower safe max voltage compared to older models. I’m seeing stock prices go well above 1.4v, and HWMonitor even displays 1.5v on all cores at the max setting. I’ve also heard HWMonitor isn’t very reliable for Ryzen, so I’m not sure about that. Ryzen Master sometimes shows 1.44v or a bit lower, but usually around 1.28v most of the time. Is there any real risk to my chip if I leave it like this? Thanks!
Updated the BIOS to the latest release, which is now at a similar voltage level. It’s reassuring that everything remains stable. I hadn’t considered adjusting the voltage manually to a lower setting, especially since older models handled much less power.
