Computer stopped working suddenly during play. No signs of power surges, outages, or flickering. No overheating observed. Phone kept charging off the tower. Internal case lights functioned normally, and USB devices charged properly. The power button didn’t respond when pressed. No fans were running. Other items on the power strip remained unaffected.

I suspect a power supply problem. I replaced it with a new one. It seems to be faulty too—case lights are still working and devices charge. The power button remains unresponsive, whether pressed or held. Last time it was the motherboard, but no clear reason. This time the lights are still operational.

I’m generally a "shade tree mechanic" here. Any advice on what might be going wrong? I’m planning to get a new motherboard.

which motherboard you are using?
consider a basic configuration
usually one RAM installed in slot A2
has a CPU with cooling and fan
if integrated graphics are available, link the monitor to the board
otherwise, install the graphics card separately and connect it to the monitor
attach a keyboard
ensure the power supply is connected
clear all additional cards, drives, and usb devices
reset the motherboard's bios using jumper wires
