Computer shut down unexpectedly and significantly reduced your storage space.
It all began when I decided to replace the original fan and possibly damaged it a bit, reducing my RAM from 4GB (3.5 GB) to just 2GB. I think the connection might be weak because one RAM slot isn't engaging properly, though the system starts up normally without errors. Hardware tools show two RAM modules installed but operating in single-channel mode. My dad and I removed the sticks, reinstalled them, and it worked until... well, it restarted midway and cut the memory in half. I run older hardware, but it shouldn’t be that outdated—it should trigger an error if the RAM isn’t properly seated. Specifications: Windows 10 Pro, 32-bit CPU, Intel Core i5 760 @ 2.80GHz, 4GB DDR3 Single-Channel at 668MHz, ASUSTeK P7H55-M motherboard, Philips 222E graphics, NVIDIA GeForce GT 710, 111GB SSD. Let me know if you need help resolving this.
It seems there might be a couple of issues. Your RAM or motherboard could have failed, or the RAM might be installed incorrectly—check that it's in slots two and four, not one and three, and that it's seated properly. If the problem persists, try replacing the RAM with a new one on another computer to see if it works.
Small issue, only slots 2 and 4 are not working. I didn’t mention that most components are recycled or used. Yes, I’ve reinserted my RAM. P.S.: Honestly, whenever I can afford a PC, I’m going to replace the default PSU. Plus, we’re on a tight budget—trying my dad’s computer could get me in trouble, and the motherboards are only DDR2 in storage and the attic.
Sure, just let me know the details and I’ll update it for you. Thanks!
