I’m just starting out here. I’m working on building my PC and have a ROG Strix Z370 gaming rig. I got an i9-9900K without a K, a GTX 2060 Super, G.Skill Trident Z DDR4 32GB at 3200MHz, and an 850W power supply. When I press the power button, the CPU fan starts and the GPU fan activates, but once they turn off, the lights stop and no display appears. I connected an SSD drive, but nothing shows up on the screen. I’m trying to remove the GPU and RAM one by one, and after taking out the motherboard, I just plug everything in and wait for the installation to begin. Could you help me? Thank you.
Hello, my initial thought is that your system might be using an older BIOS. To make the i9-9900 work with the ASUS Z370 motherboard, you should upgrade the BIOS to a newer version (at least 1803). However, because this motherboard model lacks BIOS Flashback support, you'll also need an 8th generation CPU for the update process.
Check if your BIOS is current for that motherboard. Z370 models don’t originally work with 9th gen Intel processors unless you update the BIOS first. Without an update, you’ll have to use an 8th gen chip to enable BIOS support for the newer version.
I understand you're asking about compatible 8th generation CPUs for updating, and you want to explore options in your local area.
Some CPUs are built-in support for the Z370, especially the 8th generation models. You might be able to purchase an 8100 on Amazon, install the latest BIOS, and then exchange it for a refund.
