I recently assembled a fresh system with these details. Processor: Ryzen 7 7700X, Motherboard: Gigabyte B650 AX, Graphics: 4060ti 16GB RAM (2x16), Corsair Vengeance 6000MHz, SSD: Samsung 990evo 2TB NVMe M.2, Cooler: Hypermaster 212, Power Supply: Corsair B850 X 80 Plus Gold. I’ve only installed Steam, Discord, and a handful of games. Temperatures stayed between 56-68°C during titles like Clair Obscur, Rocket League, and Dead by Daylight. At 1080p high settings, both GPU and CPU handled everything smoothly. When launching Overwatch 2 with CPU Temp Program enabled, the CPU spiked to 100% across all eight cores, temperature rose to 97°C, then the machine shut down shortly after shader loading. After a few minutes, cooling kicked in but the temp climbed again, causing a complete shutdown. All components arrived new from Microcenter; the build process ran without issues. I’ve played Overwatch via Battlenets Launcher on an older machine before, so now I’m switching to Steam. I’m curious whether the Steam version is struggling with my hardware or if the new cooling solutions will help. Installing an AIO next weekend and reapplying thermal paste should reduce fan noise and improve airflow. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

It seems some systems experience unusual overheating or crashes. Likely causes include insufficient cooling, overclocking, or an inadequate power supply. From my experience, better cooling solutions and avoiding overclocks help. My 5800x3d stays under 78°C, while the 7940hx can briefly reach 100-101°C but remains stable. The PSU appears capable of handling up to 115°C, though hwinfo64 notes no crashes or throttling. Check your cooling setup, consider lowering overclocks, and possibly upgrade your PSU. You sure this is for Corsair RMX models? Newer parts seem less reliable these days.

The PSU I purchased in perfect condition. It received good ratings on the X model versus the E version.

Temperatures look fine. For better monitoring, consider using MSI Afterburner overlay.
