I made a cheap PC and everything seemed okay at first. After months playing CS2, it suddenly shut down. The motherboard lights stayed on but I couldn’t restart. After turning the PSU off and on again, it wouldn’t boot. I thought maybe the RAM was faulty, so I took it back and tested—it was fine. After a while it started again. Once it loaded, my character turned off and the lights stayed on. I had to change the RAM positions and it worked. It ran CS2, Minecraft, and simple games well. But with tougher games it would shut down sometimes, then restart. The specs were: GPU Asus ROG GTX 1050 Ti, CPU Ryzen 5 1600X, RAM Teamgroup 2x8GB DDR4, PSU a cheap old one.
Obtain a fresh PSU, as they tend to wear down with use. Review the Event Viewer for any kernel 41 errors; if found, it likely points to a PSU issue. It’s best to replace the PSU even if it isn’t the immediate cause. Thanks for clarifying that sounds a bit redundant.
It looks like you're putting too much load on the power supply. Since it's 13 years old and wasn't originally a high-quality unit, your first action should be to inspect the Windows Event Viewer. If you see Event ID 41, it means something is shutting it down without Windows' approval. Also, try determining the power rating of that PSU.
