Computer freezing, need assistance!
Computer freezing, need assistance!
My device often becomes unresponsive while in use. It mainly happens when loading a game's screen, particularly when another application is running on the secondary monitor. These titles don’t demand high system performance (just games like League of Legends, TFT, and Valheim). If I restart the computer quickly, it freezes again at startup if I don’t allow it to rest for about 15 minutes. I own this machine since around 2014, but several components have been replaced over time after assembling it with my father.
Here are the technical details:
Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 Six-Core Processor 3.85 GHz
Installed RAM: 16 GB
System type: 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760
Motherboard: B450I GAMING PLUS AC (MS-7A40)
Power supply: Corsair CX500
The chassis is compact and lightweight with a handle on top for convenient transport. I thought it would make moving it easier for LAN events, but after ten years, I realize it might actually contribute to overheating, so I’ve removed some sides to help manage heat.
I’m seeking advice because I don’t have the budget for a full replacement. I’d like to fix only the necessary parts so I can still play games and use other apps smoothly—like streaming, browsing, or Discord/Spotify on another monitor. Also, what’s the best way to clean it? More frequent cleaning could help, though I haven’t done it much lately; I tried vacuuming once but didn’t see much improvement.
Thanks in advance!

Is this your PSU? If yes, you might consider getting a reliable 550W PSU and checking if the problem continues.
BIOS version for your motherboard?
The chassi is a very compact design with a handle on top for easier transport. LOL, I thought it would make it simpler to bring it to LAN parties, but after ten years, I realize it might actually contribute to overheating. I’ve removed the sides to help with that.
If you can’t mention the model, maybe share a link to the case instead.
How should we clean it?
You could skip images of your build and just describe your advice. The host suggested uploading to Imgur, then sharing the links here for us to review.
Monitor the task manager during operation and note any alterations when an issue arises.
Accessing BIOS information
When starting up, press the Delete key to enter the BIOS setup. When prompted, press the DEL key to access the Setup Menu. A boot menu will appear during the startup sequence. The BIOS version should be visible on the screen.
Hi
Have you maintained the driver updates for the GPU? Using the NVIDIA Geforce experience software will ensure the drivers are current.
Geforce experience software
The most recent BIOS version is 7A40vAG, released in 2022. The 2023 release includes beta or early update versions. Updating your OS and GPU drivers might resolve any freezing issues.
