Computer fails to display - illumination activates, fans stop rotating, VGA indicator remains active
Hello. I just assembled a friend's PC with these components: Ryzen 5 5600X (stock cooler), MSI B550 Tomahawk, two 8GB DDR4 Corsair Vengeance LPX sticks (one only worked in the first two slots), Nvidia RTX 3060, Corsair RM750e (with included cables), and two 1080p 144Hz monitors (brand unknown). The build was generally unstable—first boot revealed a failing PSU that was replaced after some troubleshooting. Recently, while playing Rocket League, the display vanished entirely during a session, the PC shut down, and then restarted without issues afterward. After reinserting the power supply, fans started spinning normally and the VGA debug light appeared without any POST error. He’s tried basic fixes like connecting HDMI/DP cables to the board, testing different connections, and even unplugging the PSU, but nothing resolved the problem. I’m unsure what to suggest right now, as he’s hesitant to open the case further. Do you know anyone who’s faced a similar situation?
They have it, just use another PCI slot. That worked for me. Also, performing a CMOS reset and swapping RAM are good approaches to try.
