Just finished a build trying to adjust the RAM clock to 6400, but the computer won’t start or hang after several failed attempts. It boots with UEFI (or whatever it uses) and works fine once XMP is turned off and the clock is set to auto. I’m confused about what’s going on. What BIOS version is installed on your motherboard? When using two RAM modules in slots A2 and B2, activating X.M.P in BIOS should allow the system to function with the specified overclock.

For the RAM, is it two pairs of two or a single set of four? Even though they seem identical, having two separate sets might not work well together.

I haven't updated the bios yet; it's a relatively new board and I didn't notice any changes on the site.

Which one is not identical?
RAM is sold in groups for a reason.
Those two sets of RAM might have been made by different manufacturers, with slightly varying tolerance levels.
They might not (seemingly do not) work well together.
If you need 64GB, you should have purchased a set of two 32GB units.

They weren't verified to function together. You might attempt configuring it as XMP and adjust the speed manually to 6000.

RAM offers significantly more timings than those listed on the package. When multiple RAM modules are sold together, it ensures compatibility for all timings, including those not visible on the packaging. It might seem that two sets of two could function well, but many experiences shared here indicate this isn't always the case.
@Lutfij
suggested a BIOS update as a possible solution, though this would likely stem from improved BIOS handling (which may not be feasible). Even if you upgrade to all sticks in one package, updating the BIOS could be beneficial—though it can be challenging. My guess is the problem lies in purchasing two packs of two instead of a single pack of four.

You haven't mentioned the BIOS version for your motherboard. Also, you haven't confirmed whether using X.M.P in BIOS has improved stability while using a single RAM kit in slots A2 and B2.
