My system - a 1i5 processor, 10th generation, 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD, 1TB HD - I’ve seen performance drop so quickly. Chrome often lags even before opening just a few tabs, making it hard to use smoothly. The RAM usage is around 90%, and it feels like only half is being used. Apps like Rocket League start stuttering right away. Before any program launches, the RAM hits 50%—how does that work?

Stuff has become extremely inefficient in terms of memory usage lately. With only 8GB of RAM, it's now below what's needed for normal tasks. The simplest fix is to upgrade, but improvements won't last. Optimization expenses are high, and manufacturers prefer customers pay for performance gains rather than companies providing them.

Would upgrading to a RAM of 16GB or higher improve performance?

128SSD keeps the system files isolated, while the rest reside on the 1TB drive, as if unused at all.

About 3 to 4 months ago I didn’t experience this problem at all.

Windows 11 demands more than 3GB of RAM just to function. The claimed minimum of 4GB isn’t arbitrary—it reflects genuine hardware needs for smooth operation. Running on 8GB feels like a subpar experience in 2025. To keep using 8GB, you should focus on single-tasking: avoid switching tabs between games and browsers, or leaving a browser open while playing. Managing numerous tabs will slow things down. Background processes also consume space; clearing them can help. Consider disabling startup RAM usage or upgrading to 16GB, though the latter may be premature given current pricing pressures.
