Hey, I'm working with an HCL Lga775 prebuilt and unsure if the motherboard is the standard size. I'm considering upgrading to a Q6600 and GT710, but the maximum PSU wattage is 230 watts while the cooler master PSU calculator suggests it needs 250 watts. So I have two choices: either get a new case that fits or use an external PSU.

Also, I'm curious about which components to connect to the new board and which ones should stay on the old one.

My current specs are:
- Pentium dual-core E6 processor
- 2 sticks of 2 GB DDR2 667 MHz RAM
- GT 210 GB DDR3 memory
- 160 GB HDD at 7.2 k RPM

Upgrade options:
- Q6600 with 2 x 2 GB DDR2 667 MHz RAM
- GT710 with 2 x 2 GB DDR3 memory
- 160 GB HDD at 7.2 k RPM

Need advice on the best path forward.

Opt for a fresh motherboard instead of continuing with the previous one.
What is your budget looking like?

You're correct, you'll likely choose a new motherboard with DDR 2 RAM to make use of what you already have.
Thanks

They offer a newer setup, such as 1156, 1155, or 1150 sockets. These models come with affordable motherboards and solid CPUs that are capable of running modern games, mainly xeons.

My budget isn't huge. Can you tell me if it's possible to get a CPU RAM and motherboard combo for around 100 dollars?

Mostly I agree with you, GPU will definitely work since it can handle up to 20W~, which is about 2A needed for a GPU (P=U*I). The Q6600 CPU is solid, and 4GB of RAM should suffice for a few tabs and games. GT710 is a capable entry-level option. Just ensure your motherboards support the Q6600, and don't worry too much about RAM speed. Can you take a picture of the motherboard before you begin purchasing?

I also possess a Pentium dual-core processor for updating the BIOS when necessary.

Yes, you can overclock your Q6600 using this cooler. If so, which settings should you adjust?
