Completely new components available. Restarting every five minutes—could it be the RAM issue?
Completely new components available. Restarting every five minutes—could it be the RAM issue?
Hey everyone, I just put together a brand new system. Everything is brand new. The other specs are: CPU — Ryzen 9 3900X with cooler — Noctua NH D-15 GPU — RTX 3060 SSD — TEAMGROUP MS30 1TB M.2 SATA 6G HDD — Seagate 2TB Barracuda Compute 3.5 SATA 6Gb/s PSU — SEASONIC Focus Gold GM-750 watts Power Supply Unit FOCUS-GM-750 (SSR-750FM). According to my estimates on Partpicker.com, it should be around 450 watts. I have the TEAMGROUP T-Force Vulcan Z DDR4 32GB kit (2x16GB) at 3200MHz CL16 and an MSI MPG B550 GAMING EDGE Wi-Fi motherboard. For the first week everything worked perfectly — Dota 2 and video editing ran smoothly. But about two days ago, the computer restarted almost every five minutes while playing Dota 2 and Asphalt 9. RAM was dropping below 3200MHz. When I first turned it on, it was around 2600MHz. I tried setting it back to the default 2600MHz in BIOS, but nothing changed. The restarts keep happening. Is there a problem with the RAM or something else?
I've encountered comparable problems in certain situations. I've experienced a power cable coming loose from my GPU until a specific application triggered it, allowing one of the connectors to handle Windows. Another instance involved insufficient power delivery, possibly due to a motherboard lacking advanced machine learning for RAM optimization—though if present, it might exceed your power supply's limits after adjusting memory voltages. Could you share the model of your power supply and its wattage rating?
Hey there, just updated the post. Thanks for the note about the PSU specs.
This seems unlikely based on what I understand. I’d look into the GPU power cable just in case it’s shifted a bit, otherwise I’m not sure.
GPU connections appear stable. My BIOS was recently updated. I’m still unsure what’s happening, though. It keeps restarting during gameplay, particularly with Dota II. I don’t understand.
I've got HWinfo ready and the CPU is idle at 45°C. Everything connected looks good.
Hey everyone, just wanted to share that fixing the replacement PSU resolved the issue. My original unit was bad, so I returned it for a replacement. Getting the new one worked perfectly—no more restarts!
