I'm preparing to refresh my PC soon, so I've been weighing the idea of swapping out Windows 10 for Linux Mint. Gaming is a big part of my interest, and while Windows has more titles, Linux is gaining traction in that space. With more companies adopting Linux, it seems likely that support will expand over time. It offers speed, stability, security, and cost savings. Out of the 113 Steam games I own, about half are compatible with Linux—54 of them. Unfortunately, popular titles like Overwatch, Battlefield, Skyrim, and Assassin's Creed aren't available yet. Still, it might be worth the switch if you value performance and freedom. What do you think?

I recall Wine was once available for Linux, though I'm uncertain about its current status or how games are supported today. It might be worth checking. Also, I really enjoy the location!

Wine remains available, though its performance is far from ideal compared to a full operating system. It's seldom functional for most programs anymore since it hasn't received recent updates.

You're currently enjoying the advantages of both Windows 7 and its modern features.

Steam can be set up for Linux Mint, though only Ubuntu receives official support from Valve. Both Ubuntu and the Steam operating system are available.

I’d prefer to stay on Linus long-term. Earlier I used Ubuntu mostly, but it slowed things down a lot. I’ll try building a USB Linux version with elementaryOS later to meet those speed needs. Right now, the main OS isn’t moving toward Linux.

Wine remains popular, though compatibility remains a challenge. I've tried it, but the main issue arises when switching between dual booting; I often default to one OS over the other. Once I finish using all Windows-only games and switch to Linux for additional software, I tend to rely more on the Linux side.

I might run solely on macOS, yet the main reason I hesitate is three games.
