Completely dead WD SA510?
Hello, I received a WD SA510 500GB SSD from my neighbor after it failed. Fortunately, we had a backup, so she upgraded to a Crucial MX500 and installed it on her system. I wanted to explore if I could reuse my SSD for testing purposes. It’s not advisable, but it might still function for basic checks. When connected through a USB SATA enclosure, it requests the BitLocker key. After entering it, it prompts for formatting before use. If I attempt to format Windows, it reports an error saying "Windows was unable to complete the format." All partitions remain visible, and I can assign a different drive letter on the primary one. Various partitioning utilities from Hiren's PE either didn’t work or crashed during partitioning attempts. Interestingly, CrystalDiskInfo indicates the drive is healthy (though only detected in Hiren's PE). GParted shows an error about input/output issues during write operations on /dev/sda. MacOS fails to erase it, though I don’t remember the exact message. Is this drive truly dead, or could another tool help restore it?
