Following the switch from Windows 7 to Windows 10, you're experiencing high disk usage during startup, which significantly impacts performance. This issue might be linked to system files or background processes. To prevent it on every boot, consider checking startup programs, optimizing disk settings, or running a clean installation.

It could be searching for files, with my mom's laptop it did that for a while then everything worked again. I'm hoping this is the same situation now.

After completing the upgrade, perform a fresh installation immediately. Once that's done, install the latest available drivers.

This problem also occurred during the 8 Ti 8.1 upgrade. The simplest solution is a fresh installation. You can attempt several steps to resolve it, but first consider updating your drivers.

Thanks for the assistance—it only runs occasionally, seems to perform a disk defrag at startup for about five minutes. It’s not bad, but I won’t be doing a fresh installation anytime soon (just installed Mad Max).
