My primary storage area where I keep the program and other small files is consistently at capacity. It’s designed for 464GB, yet it’s usually only a few gigabytes free, around 4-6GB. When I investigate what’s consuming space, users occupy about 405GB. There are two folders—Common and my own. The Common folder uses less than 246KB, so it’s in its proper spot. My folder appears to take up the full 405GB. The issue becomes clearer when I expand further. Inside, adding up all the files reveals just 3.89GB. Where should the remaining 401GB be? A bit of extra information. I only realized this after switching to this SSD for program storage on my PC. I’m unsure if this was related to the transfer.

Remember there are also concealed files present. This could explain the inconsistency.

You could duplicate a storage device from a smaller unit onto a bigger one. Occasionally the cloning program causes the larger drive to match the size of the smaller one. This issue can be adjusted if needed. Attempt to discover how much room other users are occupying. Additionally, Windows consumes considerable space with outdated updates.

Use tools like TreeSize Free or WinDirStat to identify space usage locations.
