I’m not opposed to good offers. My challenge is lacking sufficient knowledge about hardware to judge what constitutes a solid deal or the best replacement parts. Some items are currently unavailable (like SSDs), and I tend to get confused by various alternatives with differing performance levels (SSD seems straightforward, but components such as motherboards, GPUs, CPUs…). I’ll have to take a chance and see what I can get.
Do you know if keeping your existing tower would work with the new cooling solution, new motherboard, graphics card, and CPU?
Also, is there any information about whether the SSD I purchase requires a heatsink? I’ve heard that certain Gen 4 NVMe SSDs need one. How does this fit with the recommended SSD for this build?
For the old tower, if you wish to reuse it, I recommend searching for the product page or an old online ad that displays the specifications of your current case. Compare these details with the height of the cooler, the length of the graphics card, and the case’s capacity claims.
With the NVMe heatsink, it makes sense to have one installed. Just make sure to verify this since my new Z690 board came with a pre-installed one.
