This is intended for PC and console gaming, though I thought I’d include it here. I really dislike online ranked matches in any title. The game I’m currently playing is Dragon Ball Xenoverse. It features a leaderboard where your points depend on the opponents you face. The issue arises when you defeat someone with high points—they exit the match without updating your score, and you don’t receive any points. I’ve been among the top 50 on the system, consistently beating everyone, yet I still lose points because they drop out. When I face a top player, if they stay, I can earn a significant boost.

Another problem is uniformity among players. Many quickly find and exploit broken mechanics, only to wait for developers to patch them. This pattern repeats across most games I play. I suspect I could try unranked matches, but the settings are fixed. Fighting games are especially frustrating for this reason.

I’ve looked for players who avoid exploiting the game and have been participating in endless battles. So what’s the point of ranked matches? Being on a leaderboard often feels meaningless if someone cheated their way up. Ranked matches seem to be a common issue across nearly all titles I’ve played.

Sorry for the lengthy explanation, but maybe I’m the only one who views ranked play this way. I’ll keep playing rank and rage all day, lol. I’m not claiming to be the best, but I’ve managed to beat what I consider the top players. I reached out to one of those top competitors I defeated, asking why they quit. They admitted it was about preserving their points.

LOL—why can’t people just accept a loss? Also, quitting leaves you marked red for a few matches, which feels unfair. If the game simply removed your points without any explanation, that would be frustrating. This ends my rant.
