Windows says 10 is preferable for gaming over 7, but I find it hard to accept. Fallout 3 doesn’t work on 10 or 8.

Games perform more smoothly on Windows 8 and 10 because of improved resource handling compared to Windows 7. Fallout 3 is considered outdated and may not run on newer systems, though it can be played in a virtual machine. Note: Fallout 3 does seem to work on Windows 8 and 10 after updates, but you'll need to install games for Windows Live.

Fallout 3's compatibility issues stem from Bethesda, not Windows 10. Windows 10 offers the best gaming experience, particularly with DX12 support.

Ironically, more titles run smoothly on Windows 10 than on Windows 8.1/7 according to my experience. I haven’t faced any problems with Fallout 3 or similar games, whereas on Windows 7/8.1 I would have encountered issues.

You can play old titles like StarCraft and Diablo 2 smoothly without any issues. On Windows 10 it works just like on Windows 7, though you’ll need to adjust settings and it might still crash after playing for over 30 minutes.
