I own an older Asus PRIME Z390-P motherboard and recently acquired a new case with USB-C on the front (Corsair Frame 400D). I've come across two methods for connecting the interface to my board: 1) PCIe to a USB-C adapter card, and 2) USB 3.0 to a USB-C header adapter. Both have Amazon reviews discussing their fit. Which option would work best for your setup? Appreciate your help!

i don't like the idea of the second one, that slot is sort of fragile plastic on the motherboard side AND you'll love the usb 3 front panel port, i don't like the idea of that adapter, looks kind of janky, the pcie one is waaaaaaay better imo, you'll still have the cable running around, but the frame 4000D is an AMAZING CASE and you'll for sure find the perfect route to hide the cable

Thank you for your guidance. I was hesitant about the second option because of the compact design of the items. Normally, PCIE would be my top pick, but with two available slots, I was open to trying it out if it were widely preferred.

well this is a pcie 3x2 slot, you have 4 iirc on the motherboard, you don't need to put it on the 16x slot, just put it on the most botton one and you're fine, this will help you even with cable management

Thats a lie Directly from the maker https://uk.store.asus.com/90mb0xx0-m0eay0-z390-p.html You use the adapter on 1 and you can use the other ones as well

You're correct, I overlooked the second internal USB3 port. It's important to consider its fragility and the potential risk of adapter 2 breaking it. PCIe remains a reliable solution.

It’s surprisingly durable enough to handle a few insertions. How often do you play with USB connectors? If you’re worried about the Type C port lifting, simply use it to fit the cable in place and install it as a standard Gen 3 device.

They aren't crafted from sugar glass, you understand. They'll endure the insertion process and remain intact unless you constantly connect and disconnect it, as if someone were acting on a whim.

If you don’t believe something is delicate, just try plugging things in—don’t worry about me; it’s your motherboard. However, when dealing with other people’s hardware, I won’t suggest inserting anything that might harm it. I’d never risk damaging my board or someone else’s.
