Compatibility with PCs
I plan to replace my PC with a Ryzen 5 3600X. Once done, it will be my new PC part list from Part List Type. The components include a 3.8 GHz 6-core processor, a Gigabyte motherboard, Corsair memory, and other accessories. I’m checking prices on Amazon, Best Buy, and Adorama to make sure everything fits together. Since I’m new to this, I want to confirm compatibility before making any purchases.
During the recent BIOS release? (Certain AMD B350 boards might need a BIOS upgrade before running Matisse CPUs. Changing the BIOS could mean needing a different processor that works with older BIOS versions.)
Generally, you shouldn't overpay for a CPU compared to a graphics card in a tight budget. An RX 580 or 570 would be a superior option for the GPU. Allocate a bit more to the motherboard. Opt for an MSI MAX series card, as they are compatible with Ryzen processors right out of the box.
Yes, you can save the BIOS update file to an external drive and apply it afterward.
A functional CPU is needed on the mainboard. High-end systems often work without one.
I believe a 1650 super would suit a Ryzen 5 3600x better. (If you find it at a good price that’s perfect.) Also, it could be due to my limited understanding, but I haven’t heard of the PSU brand.
Just grab the maximum value so you don’t have to stress about it—this board isn’t great either.
