Certainly, not all M.2 ports are compatible—some only work with SATA. But this device appears to support PCIe and NVMe, so it should function properly.

It clearly won't work with a heat sink attached, as it won't fit.

I don't think a heatsink is necessary. My 860 EVO SSD has stayed under 41°C so far.
