Hello, the Asrock A320M-HDV works with the Amd Ryzen 5 1600 without a BIOS upgrade. The A320M-HDV also fits the Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 16GB DDR4-2666MHz or the HyperX Predator 16GB DDR4-3200MHz models. Let me know if you need more details!

Acknowledge the advice carefully. It’s really poor quality—I wouldn’t rely on it with a 6-core processor. Opt for a B450 Pro with maximum DDR5 support, or a Pro 4/APU (not M). Skip A320 boards. Seek faster RAM since Ryzen experiences latency due to multiple cores and avoid the 1600. Choose a 3300X or 1600 AF.

Some early CPUs work with any early motherboards without needing a BIOS upgrade. Unfortunately, the AF refresh series belong to the second generation.

You own the motherboard and wish to retain it while upgrading just certain components.

You can purchase a compatible RAM module for your AMD Ryzen 1600 and ASRock A320M HDV. Look for DDR4-3200 or DDR4-3600 modules with the right capacity, ensuring they match your motherboard specifications.

Ah alright. Then yes and yes. But as I said. If your looking at a 1600. Update the bios to the latest one and get a 1600af or a 3300x. ( Though I'm not sure if this board supports zen 2 )

Is the latest update risky? I tried it on an older system and it crashed.

The only clear method to lock the board is by causing the power to fail. If you're unsure about updating, opt for the 1600 and higher models—it should work fine.
