Compatibility of motherboards with 3rd generation Ryzen processors
Compatibility of motherboards with 3rd generation Ryzen processors
Checking if the ROG STRIX B450 I GAMING supports 3rd generation Ryzen.
Some chipsets from the 300 and 400 series (like B350, A320, X370, B450, X470) don’t come with Ryzen 3rd gen support right away. Only the X570 is guaranteed. If you manage to get a motherboard released after the 3rd generation launch, it will work with Ryzen 3000 models. If the BIOS won’t start, you can try an older 1st or 2nd generation Ryzen CPU to upgrade the BIOS, or request a temporary loaner from AMD.
The MSI MAX boards work well too, along with some ASRock options
MSI MAX & Asrock B450M Pro4 (F) uses 3rd gen ready bios. This model might not be ideal, though. ASUS B450 boards with 3rd gen Ryzen often cause problems—many reports of issues, poor support, and crashes. The MSI B450i Gaming Plus ITX AC seems a better fit! A solid choice.
