Compatibility issue persists even with updated BIOS version
I'm working on upgrading the CPU from a Ryzen 3000 series to 5000 series on my AM4 board and it won't start. The EZ Debug LED stays white on the CPU. I've checked BIOS versions 7C56vAF and 7C56vA3, tried various fixes, and cleared CMOS each time I updated the BIOS. RAM is 4x 8GB Crucial Ballistix at 3600MHz CL16, no XMP enabled. Storage is a Western Digital 1TB M.2 SSD, PSU is Seasonic FOCUS GM750 80+ Gold. I've also tried disconnecting peripherals, using one RAM stick, booting without GPU or peripherals, and swapping the PCIe slot. If I swap back to the Ryzen 7 3700X it works. Any suggestions? Should I think this CPU is dead? Thanks!
All your attempts have succeeded consistently with the 3700X. It's as uncommon as it seems, but it appears your latest CPU might be defective. Did you buy it used or brand new? If it's new, is the return window still open?
Yeah I knew the risk haha, here's the link if you want to inspect the seller: https://www.ebay.com/itm/315058071990
The seller's update indicates they last used this system on 12/27/2023. I attempted BIOS changes to enable compatibility for the 5800x3D model (E7C56AMS.A90), but it didn’t work. I also noticed after swapping CPUs, the "VGA" LED appeared on the motherboard, yet the "CPU" LED remained inactive. It seems there might have been a socket or pin issue, though the current setup with the 3700X still functions properly.
