Only CPUs from the 8000 or 9000 series are compatible with 300 series Intel boards.

It’s unlikely this applies. The Z390 is intended for 8th and 9th generation Intel processors. You should contact Asus Support or check their documentation for confirmation.

They need specific motherboards for each generation of Intel CPUs. The 300 series works only with 8th and 9th gen chips, while 6th and 7th gen require the 100 and 200 series boards. Do you own any of those models?

I own the Z390 already, but honestly I don’t have funds for a new CPU, so I was wondering if it’s possible to use my existing one.

That's disappointing, but I'll keep it for a response.

Perhaps you should have considered this before purchasing a motherboard... Building computers by buying components individually is one of the least effective methods. You often end up with obsolete parts while spending more than necessary.

It should work well for a good time. I plan to buy the CPU later, maybe in a month. I’m not sure yet, but I was thinking about using my old CPU right now. In computer parts, everything tends to get outdated, right? But what do you think?

They strongly recommend switching to a Ryzen motherboard and CPU. Not just because they’re more affordable, but because it provides a solid upgrade route.

Only a handful of chipsets from the 100/200 lineup are compatible with the latest CPU models.
