Most situations won’t affect customers unless you use a switch or router with 10Gbps capability that can’t handle less than 1Gbps and you connect a Cat3 cable. Otherwise, you shouldn’t run into problems.

If I wore a newspaper cone on my head, I’d choose CAT 6 or 7 for speeds under a gig per second. The issue is I might end up with a good connection but miss out on its full potential.

Increasing your spending doesn't guarantee better results. If you can't use the available features, leaving them unused is just a waste of money. Thinking about future benefits is good, but expecting significant returns in five years is unrealistic. Spending more without clear advantages doesn't lead to extra speed or value.

If you wish to recommend they go back to this later—though I don’t think there’s much urgency now, except for the upcoming Cat8 release, which might just be another follow-up video—please share it in the appropriate section.

Cat5e is sufficient now, but it will last for a while. When consumer-friendly IEEE 802.3bz equipment appears in shops, you’ll see a noticeable boost—from 1Gbps to 2.5Gbps—even using Cat5e.

This suggests that many so-called Cat 6+ cables might be counterfeit, which could explain why few individuals here recognize this issue.
