Hello everyone,

I’m looking for guidance on purchasing a new laptop. My workload involves heavy 4K video editing with Premiere Pro, as well as graphics and photo editing using Lightroom and Photoshop, plus scientific computing and 3D modeling with ArcGIS Pro and R Studio. The demands vary, often requiring significant CPU, graphics, or memory—sometimes all three at once.

I’m evaluating the following options with their respective specs:

1) ProArt Studiobook Pro 16 OLED (W7604). Intel® Core™ i9-13980HX Processor 2.2 GHz. NVIDIA RTX™ 3000 Ada GPU. 64 GB DDR5 RAM. Base Price: $2,999.99
2) Dell Precision 5680. Intel Core i9-13900H. Nvidia RTX 3500 Ada, 12 GB GDDR6. 64 GB LPDDR5 RAM. Base Price: $3819
3) Dell Precision 7680. Intel Core i9-13950HX. Nvidia RTX 3500 Ada 12GB GDDR6. 64 GB CAMM RAM. Base Price: $4739

I’m upgrading from a struggling old Dell Precision 5510, so any choice will make a big difference. I need a system that can keep up with my current tasks and be future-proof, but my budget is tight. I’ve been comparing these specs until I was overwhelmed, especially when weighing performance against cost. For example, the ProArt would likely handle everything at around $1700 less, but how long will it last? In contrast, the Precision 7680 supports up to 128GB RAM and offers a stronger GPU—though I’m hesitant to overspend or regret not investing a bit more later.

The Precision 5680 is also appealing, but I’m undecided because it lacks standard USB A ports and has a maximum of 64GB RAM.

I’d appreciate any insights or recommendations from others who have used these models or similar configurations. Thank you very much!

Welcome to the forums, newcomer! I would choose the Asus laptop among all options because it features the highest spec'd processor, even though the discrete GHPU is missing. As the GPU increases, the processor tends to decrease, although your RAM remains unchanged. The 5680 from Dell appears to offer a good compromise between these choices.

Thanks for your feedback! Your worries about the ASUS are valid—many users still face problems like ProArts bricking, screen mesh issues, and customer service challenges after updates. Are these concerns mostly addressed now? It’s understandable to feel uncertain about reliability despite the product’s potential.
