Initially, I intended to purchase a 2060 super, though I might opt for a 2070 super or switch to an AIO instead of an air cooler. I value everyone's feedback and was trying to determine if there were overlooked options between the 8700k and 9700k that could justify the extra cost. My current budget is approximately $1600, which includes a monitor, leaving about $1200 for the PC.

For the latest software versions, the GPU handles most of the processing. The CPU plays a smaller role now compared to the GPU. This applies to models like the Ryzen 2700X, which offers strong value at around $150 with compatible motherboards for $50.

I agree and will be arriving from a 4790k. It seems any recommended CPU would be better than what I’m used to. Thanks for the feedback!

That's correct. This significantly alters the situation, and being truthful means I wouldn't give up the 4790K unless it's at least a 9900K or 3900X.

It was unexpected that my CPU struggled beyond 4.8GHz steady until I replaced it. This highlights why I caution against suggesting "guaranteed" overclocking, since such boosts are never truly assured.
