I really enjoy juggling multiple tabs even during games. While both options have more cores than my current 7700HQ (which is a quad-core with 8 threads), not every game utilizes those extra cores. Some do, while others don't. Both models are similar in price locally, which makes the choice tricky for me. My monitor is a 144Hz display. The 5600X offers superior single-threaded speed compared to your previous 7700 mobile CPU, delivering roughly three to four times better performance for workstation applications. An alternative path is to opt for a 3600 processor now and consider a more affordable 5000 series chip with eight cores that should be available soon this year.
It's best to go for the 5600, as it's probably available when local shops restock.
Playing solely for gaming purposes, without distractions, security software, backups, or any apps in the taskbar, 5600x performs best. When multitasking, Chrome opens and you handle many tasks, 3700x is more suitable. Overall, 5900x stands out as the top choice across all categories, making it worth considering for most AMD processors except this model.
