No worries, it won't create any problems. Just consider a 2x8 kit if your budget permits.

Having extra storage can lead to problems because it may slow things down or cause errors when your device runs out of space. Having too much, like 2x8GB, is usually better than too little, but still needs careful management.

I wasn't sure either, as I'm still getting familiar with computer hardware. Most concepts feel like ancient runes to me right now.

The RAM usage isn't always inactive. Contemporary operating systems treat RAM like a disk cache. This could become more relevant today since many devices use SSDs, but it helps accelerate repeated reads of data already stored there.

This would likely matter less because you already have an HDD instead of an SSD.

You mention this often and it really stands out to me. It seems some folks assume digital systems behave like physical ones. Like, if a F350 has trouble, should I just switch to an F150 instead? It’s clear that using more trucks means higher fuel use, space needs, and maintenance expenses. Probably the same applies to computers—more unused software can lead to bigger overhead or costs. Not sure, but it’s definitely something people keep asking a lot.
