I need someone to clear up some misconceptions for me right now. If I search for "i5 10600k vs i9 10850k video editing," it just shows a lot of rendering benchmarks that aren’t really useful to me. What matters most to me is how smooth the editing process feels—no stuttering or lag, faster previews, and everything running smoothly. If the difference in editing experience isn’t huge, I’ll save money and go with the i5, paying for the i9 if I can get two 10600K units. I’ve also read that previews are handled by the GPU, not the CPU, which helps a lot. In gaming terms, the 10600K should definitely match the i9 in 1080p at 144Hz. As for the motherboard, I’m thinking MSI MAG B460M Mortar—based on the VRM temps I’ve seen, it shouldn’t be too hot, and I won’t be overclocking. The Asus Prime Z490-P is another option, but I’m not sure if I need it.
