Comparing the two models highlights their differences in specifications and performance.
Hello everyone, I'm planning to replace my current setup with a Ryzen 7 3700X. My graphics card is an RX 7900 XT, and I'm aiming for 1080p now with a goal of upgrading to 1440p. I'm unsure which CPU to choose—either the 9800X3D or the 9700X—and need some guidance. Will there be a significant performance change? I also use CAD and simulation programs, so speed matters for those tasks.
For the majority of titles? Yes, 9800x3D will significantly improve performance. For certain games? The impact is minimal. CAD updates likely won’t matter much. I’d choose 9800x3D if you can afford it, otherwise 9700x is acceptable.
At 1080p the 9800X3D will show much improved CPU performance, especially in competitive FPS. At 1440p it becomes more compact since it shines better in GPU-intensive tasks like RPGs on high settings. The 9700X offers better value compared to the 9800X3D, being roughly half the price while delivering about 20% more performance in games. In most applications it runs slightly slower due to its lower clock speed.
Your performance will rely solely on the CPU. It’s mainly about how much you’re willing to invest at that stage. Browse through the 1080p tests and pick games you’re interested in. If you want more, allocate the funds. 7900xt will just be there for now lol
Simulation software refers to programs that model real-world processes or environments for testing, training, or analysis. In gaming, it often focuses on visual fidelity like 1440p resolution, which can enhance immersion. In non-game contexts, such as engineering or scientific research, the same tools help predict outcomes without physical trials. The key distinction lies in how these applications are used—whether for entertainment or practical problem-solving.
Primarily electrical (SPICE) modeling. Maybe a few MSFS elements too.
