Comparing the NZXT N7 Z690 with the NZXT N7 Z790 and checking the release timeline for the Z790.
Hello, I'm preparing a custom build for the first time since using the Windows XP era and need to buy my motherboard. I'm leaning toward either the NZXT white boards, with a preference between the N7 Z690 and Z790 models. I've always favored the latest version of any component, but it's taking a long time to get updates on when the Z790 will arrive or actually ship. Do anyone have any inside details about the Z790 release date? I'm scheduled for major lower lumbar spine fusion and disc surgery on November 23, and this build is part of my recovery plan to stay active. My main question is how the two boards compare—should I wait for the Z790 or can I still go with the Z690? Also, has anyone noticed any reason to hold off on the Z790? Thanks for your assistance. Best regards, Wonder Woman
The purpose is to highlight performance limitations of newer chips. Z790 offers similar features but with downsides like reduced PCIe speeds and potential bottlenecks for other components. High-end GPUs like the 13900K push power limits, making them unsuitable for heavy workloads. The upgrade isn't always justified unless you're focused on content creation or need extreme performance. For better cooling, consider newer models with improved thermal management.
I won’t be taking extreme actions. My gaming will focus on lower-end titles since my recent experiences were with the original Atari 2600 from the 80s. I’ll still stream and edit videos, but I’m not Richard Donner behind the next Superman film. Instead, I’m aiming for a more polished look with a bit more performance on the CPU and GPU. I’ve already bought the necessary components and added them to my PCPartPicker inventory: WonderWoman78 - Inventory - PCPartPicker. The full liquid cooling parts are in stock but I haven’t added them yet.
I’ve finally decided on my motherboard. I checked the ratings for the NZXT, which looks nice but isn’t significantly better compared to others. I found more value on other boards that offered more performance for the price. I ordered an MSI MPG Z790 EDGE WIFI DDR4 and it’s already on its way, expected by Tuesday. It’s a bit disappointing that NZXT doesn’t score higher or offer much extra benefit. Thanks a lot for your guidance—it really helped with my choice.
