Comparing the MSI B550 GAMING Edge Wi-Fi and the MSI B550 GAMING Pro Carbon Wi-Fi models.
I understand the performance of the pro carbon is good. The gaming advantage is still unclear. Which CPU would you prefer, and what is your budget? Also, are you considering other B550 or B450 boards?
I still haven't seen any extensive reviews of these, which seems kind of odd. Anyone know of any good review vids I missed? It's an entirely different chipset, so I know there's really no correlation, but MSI's Gaming Edge and Pro Carbon X570 boards were so monumentally bad, I'm really hesitant to recommend any of their B550 boards yet.
Pretty standard build I am going for. I initially wanted to purchase MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon but I can't find it at the moment in my country. So I waited for the release of the B550 boards recently, and the price for MSI B550 Gaming Edge and Gaming Pro Carbon are pretty much higher but I do not mind spending a little more for future proofing. Can't really find much reviews on these 2 boards on the internet. CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16GB DDR4 3200 Memory: Samsung 970 EVO Plus M.2 250 GB Memory: Seagate Barracuda 2TB GPU: ZOTAC Gaming GeForce RTX 2060 AMP 6GB Case: NZXT H510
Even b450 panels will perform well. Both of these models are solid choices. For the b450, consider Tomahawk max and mortar max. Pro 4, pro vdh max, and a pro max (non-m) B550 are all viable options. The boards you mentioned are solid picks. B550 pro 4 offers a budget-friendly alternative. Tomahawk mag Aorus pro Strix f Mortar also works well.
