Comparing the Intel i9 12900 and Intel i7 13700
I'm planning to build a new computer soon. My old one isn't doing great anymore. The new one will be used for software development and gaming, mainly playing games such as Jedi Survival, Ff16, and Starfield. It's been a while since I had to pick a CPU. I was considering either an Intel i9 12900 or an Intel i7 13700, and I'm trying to decide which is better for the long term. Cost and durability are my main priorities.
13700 offers a reduction of around sixty dollars in the USA.
Single-thread speed on standard benchmarks is roughly two percent better compared to 13700.
Multi-thread performance improves by about twelve percent over 13700.
Specs: 12900; Performance Cores: 8 Cores, 16 Threads, 2.4 GHz Base, 5.1 GHz Turbo; Efficient Cores: 8 Cores, 8 Threads, 1.8 GHz Base, 3.8 GHz Turbo.
13700 features a slightly lower base frequency but better turbo speeds.
It seems 13700 is likely the clear winner.
There might be some factors favoring 12900, though I’m not very familiar with the i9 lineup.
