There’s no choice for a 3000g model. If unavailable, go with the 200ge. Both processors perform similarly, but the 200ge runs on a newer system with many upgrade options.

Ryzen 1200 is available around 50-60$ without a cooler on AliExpress or eBay. If the deal works, you might find it for 50$ on eBay with a cooler included. It features 4 cores, supports overclocking, and uses the same Zen architecture as the 2000 series. You’ll pay about 50$ plus shipping, shipped from China without a cooler. For more options, check this link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/AMD-Ryzen-3-120...T&LH_BIN=1 Also, see this cheaper alternative: https://www.ebay.com/itm/AMD-Ryzen-3-120...SwRHRdAnXJ. If you prefer Amazon UK, there’s a listing here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/AMD-Athlon-Proc...0815JGFQ8/. Prices on Amazon include VAT and shipping costs.

Hello, your decision will vary based on your needs. For office tasks and older games (before 2010), the Athlon offers strong performance. The i5 provides four physical cores, which boosts gaming speed. If you're on a tight budget and plan to use an APU without a dedicated GPU, AMD is a better option. A good point is that you can upgrade later with more funds. The i5-2400 is no longer supported and the platform is no longer produced. I’m currently using a 200 GE in the office—it handles Battlefield 2, Age of Empires 2 and 3, UT2004, among others. When considering upgrades, opt for DDR4-3200 or higher modules; the 200 GE won’t require them, but later Ryzen CPUs and APUs will make full use of it.

You might find a good motherboard at a lower cost. The problem isn't usually the CPU, but the board itself.

affordable yet limited upgrade possibilities... using an AM4 socket you can upgrade the CPU 1-2 years ahead to a 6 or 8 core version without needing to replace the motherboard or RAM again.

I checked the cost, just need the CPU power. Upgrading from i5 2400 isn’t a priority—I’ll use this setup for a year or less, so it doesn’t matter much.
