you’d only receive the 3600 if you’re keeping the stock cooler. regarding the mbo, the steel legend should be sufficient for a 6-core setup, are you certain the stability issues stem from overclocking rather than ram? typically on the 2000 series it’s tough to boost ram above 3000mhz and it looks like you’re aiming beyond xmp.
He found a 3900 and gifted me the Prism, making cooling perfect. Many people are adjusting their CPUs to 4GHz, but mine stops working above 3850 on the R2600. My RAM was 2x8GB Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 3200C16, it handled XMP well until I added two 16GB dimms for VMing, which limits me to 2800 for stability. Still, there are occasional hiccups, and I’m not sure about tightening timings.
combining 8GB and 16GB sticks doesn't produce great outcomes. You're lucky if they exceed 2667. Regarding the CPU overclocking, I'm not sure. I usually keep mine with PBO enabled and it functions properly, reaching 4GHz across all cores. Perhaps you missed the silicon lottery?
I'm currently running 4x8. I added 2x8, which might have caused an issue. I'm worried about the mobile power delivery affecting performance. If you can clarify, I'll take it seriously. Otherwise, I guess I'll just keep going.
