I previously mentioned concerns about my GPU/CPU not performing well, and some suggested adding another RAM stick. I’m thinking about whether upgrading to two 16GB sticks would justify the improvement in my 3DMark score. The current setup includes a 2X DDR4 HyperX Fury Black 16GB/3000 CL15 RTX 3070 on a MSI B460 motherboard.

Can you perform XMP on a B series board? It won’t make much difference if XMP isn’t turned on and you’re using a K-SKU processor on an unoverclocked motherboard.

Yes, dual channel is consistently beneficial. About 99% of the time, dual channel RAM offers the optimal choice.

Check the increase in your CPU rating. You’ll also see everything operates more quickly. Plus, you now have sufficient memory to run FS2020.

XMP works pretty much everywhere these days. My H110 still runs smoothly with it. It's a big jump compared to just boosting capacity and using dual channel, definitely worth the effort. Check your BIOS for XMP settings to unlock full performance—3000MHz is a pretty fast RAM speed, but don't go too high or you might lose post and need to replace the CMOS battery. And keep the timing settings untouched.

Using non-Z chipset boards restricts XMP settings to what the CPU can handle. For instance, the i5-7500 only supports up to DDR4-2400, matching its official specs. Similarly, with a B460 board and an i5-10400F, you’re limited to DDR4-2666. On the other hand, a Z490 board could allow XMP DDR4-3600 if paired with the i5-10400F. @Dveid ~700 points in Time Spy isn’t negligible. It seems you chose a B460 motherboard and combined it with an overclocked i7-10700K and DDR4-3000 RAM.
