I strongly advise against the AC87U; perhaps the AC86U is more comparable. However, it had cooling problems, especially insufficient cooling during idle time. So I might even suggest avoiding an Asus router altogether—unless you're purchasing their premium models. Overall, it’s quite disappointing. On the other hand, I’m quite happy with my Netgear R7800; it functions well even when ten devices are connected. But outside of personal experience, what works best depends on your needs, device count, and budget. Otherwise, you’ll likely need to do some research yourself.
